Disposition Authorities for Individual Classifications for Headquarters Case Files. Part B: Classification 129. Evacuation Claims.

In 1948, Congress passed Public Law 886 that allowed displaced Japanese Americans to file claims against the Federal Government for loss of property. Although the Japanese War Claims Division of the Justice Department had primary responsibility for processing these claims, the Bureau established this classification in 1950 by an Executive Conference Memordandum. The classification became obsolete in 1966.

The FBI established this classification when it assumed responsibility for ascertaining the protection capabilities and weaknesses of defense plants. Each plant survey was a separate case file, with the survey, supplemental surveys, and all communications dealing with a plant insofar as plant protection was concerned, filed together.
